Star Trek Minimates - Dr. McCoy
Here we have a Minimate version of the irascible Doctor Leonard "Bones" McCoy, chief medical officer of the starship Enterprise.
Packaging
Two different types of packaging were used in the Star Trek Minimates line. Some figures were carded, and some came in the round plastic tube packaging. McCoy here is on a card.
Dr. McCoy

McCoy is a doctor who has a real air of "been there, done that" about him, and that is somewhat conveyed in the facial detailing. As an older member of the Enterprise crew, McCoy looks suitably haggard, with extra lines showing around his eyes. His mouth is pursed in disapproval, no doubt as the result of one of Mr Spock's logical statements. The hair slopes low, blocking the forehead's worry lines.
Unlike Kirk's bright yellow Starfleet tunic, McCoy has a much more muted blue coloured uniform. It has the same very simple detailing as Kirk's, with the Starfleet insignia on the upper right of the torso block. Apart from the murkiness of the black detailing on dark blue, the paint job is OK, except for an annoying black spot on the top left of the chest piece.
The only accessory that comes with McCoy is a handbag. No, that's not right, I think it's some kind of medical satchel or something. It fits over his shoulder nicely. Would have liked a tricorder though.
Overall, this figure is OK - no great shakes if it's the only Star Trek figure you own, but he works a lot better in an ensemble, with either of the Kirk Minimates, or Spock. If you're wanting to assemble part of the Enterprise bridge crew you'll need the good Doctor.
