Diamond Select Toys have released pictures of their upcoming Ghost Rider Minimates here. Also check out bigger images of these Minimates (which will be Marvel wave 15) in the Toy News International article here.
In more Ghost Rider news, Target have new Minimates stock, with new packaging and figure assortments. The pick of which is the Ghost Rider/Daredevil set which is based on the Marvel Knights look for these characters, along with Kitty/Beast, Wolverine/Colossus and Spider-Woman/Riot Attack Spidey. Check out this thread on Minimate Multiverse for lots of pictures! Many thanks to Aaron and Amazing.JL for getting pics up.

Yes! Yes! Yes! After the amazing Santa Spidey of a few years ago, Diamond Select Toys have pulled another festive exclusive right out of Santa's sack for Christmas! And this time it isn't our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, but a frakking Cylon! Check out the thread started by Ady on the Minimate Multiverse here. But that's not all! In conjunction with DST, the Minimate Multiverse is giving people the chance to win one of these bad boys! Check out the Win A Cylon Elf contest!
As reported yesterday, both the classic BSG and new BSG Cylon assortments have been released on the West Coast. Keep an eye on this thread for any pictures!

The Battlestar Galactica Minimate Cylons are shipping and should hit West Coast stores Wednesday! Good news for some just before Christmas! Thanks to dockingbay97 for the update on this thread.
Also the DC Comics website has a really nice DC Minimates wallpaper for download. Check it out here and scroll down to Desktop Patterns. Thanks to Max Ellentuck for emailing me about this as I had missed the thread on the ever-reliable Minimate Multiverse here.

The Art Asylum forum has some lovely prototype shots of the upcoming Battlestar Galactica Modern Cylon, showing just how the new pieces create something with much less of the usual blocky Minimate look. Check out the pictures in this thread. Also TBT on the Minimate Multiverse forum has linked to a very cool video clip of Aaron Douglas, who plays Chief Tyrol, playing with some BSG Minimates, including what appears to be flight deck uniforms of Calli and the Chief himself.

Here's a strange one for all you Minimate packaging completists... The Darktide boxset has been reissued with new box artwork showing the Juggernaut with the same "big chest" piece as seen in the Darktide movie. Sadly the actual Juggernaut Minimate does not have the piece and is identical to the one I reviewed. Check out the discussion on the Minimate Multiverse forum here. Thanks to Alpheon for bringing it to the attention of the collectors, and to Aaron who supplied pictures of the new artwork.
Also don't forget the Minimate Multiverse Wallpaper competition is still running, where you can win waves 12 and 13 of the Marvel Minimates - including the chase figures! Check out the details in the contest thread.

Diamond Select Toys have just announced Minimates based on the upcoming Ghost Rider movie! Check out the announcement at the DST website here and check out the discussion surrounding this announcement on the Minimate Multiverse forum here. So waves 14 and 15 of the Marvel Minimates are movie tie-ins. Should be an interesting time for Minimates in 2007!
DST have also showed off packaging pictures of the Battlestar Galactica Cylon assortments on the Art Asylum forum. Check out the pics here.

Release dates and pictures of DC Minimates wave 4 have been solicited by DC Direct, check out the post in the Minimate Multiverse forum for all the hot, sweaty info. Many thanks to Ady for finding the info and pictures.
On a more personal note, I know the promised flood of Minimates Central reviews has not happened, and I can only apologise to all the readers of the site. I had not realised how much work would be involved after a house move and that is eating away at my time, as well as other "real life" issues in which I am going through a slightly rocky patch. I would like to assure everyone that reviews will definitely be coming soon, and thank you for your patience.

And I'm back! It's only been 9 days, but it feels like I've missed a years-worth of news. Hopefully you were all tuned to Minimate Multiverse and Minimate Headquarters for all the breaking news that I could not report on. I believe MMHQ in particular did a fine job of covering the news whilst I was away, and I appreciate that as it's such a great site.
So, Marvel wave 13 released before wave 12 (!!), pics from all the Minimate lines from toy fairs that were linked to heavily and then pulled, plus definitive lineups for Battlestar Galactica wave 1 - it's all been happening whilst I was away!

Minimates Central takes another hiatus as I am moving house and won't have any internet access at home for approximately two weeks. In the meantime make sure you check out Minimate Multiverse and Minimate Headquarters for all the latest news whilst I am unavoidably away.
When I get back, Minimates Central will be hitting full-on with a host of reviews. Coming up will be the TRU 4-pack sets of Astonishing X-Men and New Avengers, as well as the Racer X with Shooting Star in the Speed Racer line. I will also be reviewing the TRU 4-pack sets of the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters as well as having a look at the new Target 2-pack releases of the X-Men to see what differences these new releases have to the originals. So rest assured I will be back and ready with the reviews as soon as I am able to!

A lineup of Battlestar Galactica has been announced by toy website RTM along with a cool picture. The lineup is:
Six with Cylon (with a white dress version of Six as the chase figure) Dualla and Apollo Admiral Cain and Starbuck An interesting lineup. We know that the initial wave information from a while back is wrong, but where does this fit in? As a first wave it is missing several of the big guns like Adama and Baltar which have already been announced. I think this may well be a wave 2 lineup. Check out the speculation on the Minimate Multiverse forum here, with the thread started by Reideen1313.

The lineup of DC Minimates wave 4 has been announced!
Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) and Bane Cyborg Superman and Steel Golden Age Flash and Wild Cat Dead Man and Spectre An interesting lineup with some less mainstream choices to follow after the big guns get released in the first 3 waves. In addition, the release dates are now: Wave 1 - February 2007 Wave 2 - March 2007 Wave 3 - April 2007 Wave 4 - July 2007 Check out the actual Lockdown announcement and subsequent discussion on the Art Asylum forum. Donny B's pic-fic website Minimate Adventures has been relaunched with a new URL and a new look with loads of added extras like bloopers, deleted scenes and character bios. Well worth taking a good long look at. To celebrate the relaunch Minimate Headquarters held an in-depth interview with Donny, which makes interesting reading. The "Bring a Cover To Life" contest held at Minimate Multiverse is over, with the winners announced. They were: 1st Place: Boyd 2nd Place: Luke314pi 3rd Place: Ivan They were worthy winners in a contest which produced many cool pieces of work, as well as my own attempt of the Phoenix Endsong issue 3 cover. Check out the gallery of all the entries here. But don't despair if you didn't win, because a new contest has immediatedly followed! Check out the Sci-Fi Mates Custom Contest where you can win very cool goodies including a Deluxe 13 ½ Inch Modern Cylon Centurion and an AT-AT Imperial Walker from the Star Wars Miniatures collection as well as newly-released Minimate 4-packs.

After teasing us for a couple of days with their "from the back" shot of the wave 14 X3 Minimates, Diamond Select Toys have updated their announcement with a picture of Juggernaut, Beast, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Colossus and Storm from the front, and they look superb. Diamond Select Toys have just announced the lineup of Marvel wave 14 on their website! It's a wave based on this summer's X-Men: The Last Stand film, with movie-styled versions of:
Storm and Colossus Juggernaut and Beast Wolverine and Jean Grey Phoenix - chase figure for wave 14 Check out the announcement, which includes a teaser picture of the backs of the lineup right here and join in the discussion on the Minimate Multiverse forum started by Lobsterman here. In a busy day for DST, they have also debunked the information from Art Asylum's recent Lockdown feature regarding the Battlestar Galactica lineup, DST say they will reveal the new lineups soon.

I'm back! Hopefully you've all missed me! No doubt you have all been checking out Minimate Multiverse and Minimate Headquarters for your news whilst I was away, so I'll do a brief roundup after the latest news, which is:
The new Marvel Minimate 4-pack sets of the New Avengers and Astonishing X-Men have been released at Toys R Us! These mass-market 4-pack sets contain some of the figures from the upcoming speciality markets waves 12 and 13. Check out the shots taken by Amazing.JL on this thread and also thanks to Saint Demon for posting the sighting originally. And now a news roundup to make sure the MMC news pages are up to date. The AA forum has put up several of their Lockdown features, one incorporating Pop, of Rice Krispies fame and Ernie, the last of the "cereal-mates" control art, and one concerning a Battlestar Galactica Minimates magazine article. From the article it appears that there will be chase figures in the 2-pack sets. It looks like Target are stepping up their Minimate packs; as well as the Wolverine/Iceman set they are now offering most of the old Giant Size X-Men in the following packs: Colossus and Nightcrawler Cyclops and Storm Dark Phoenix and Professor X Ben Reilly and Sandman Interestingly, the Professor X is a variant, having a blue suit and black-wheeled chair. Thanks to Lobsterman for the initial sighting on the Minimate Multiverse forum and the ever- dependable Amazing.JL for the first pics. Also there has been a lot of speculation about the Battlestar Galactica Cylon Minimates. Would they be blind-packed, how many of each Cylon in a case, when would they be released? Now we have some answers as they have been solicited:- 12 in a case, $5 each, cases will be modern or classic BSG, no blindpacking and they will be released in February 2007 which is a lot later than originally anticipated. Thanks to Ady, Xybot and others for their detective work.

Minimates Central is now on a break until October 1st, as I will be unable to post up any news or reviews over the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to say however that on 21st September Minimates Central will be 3 years old, and I would just like to thank everyone who has visited in those 3 years and made Minimates Central a successful news and reviews resource for everyone fascinated by these cute 2" pieecs of plastic. Thank you all! There is also a thread on the Minimate Multiverse forum with me waffling on in a similar vein (a bit like an Oscars speech), check it out here.

Target appear to have a new Marvel Minimates 2-pack available in their stores - Classic (GSXM) Wolverine and Iceman. Thanks to Deadpool on the Minimates Multiverse forum for posting about it. Also thanks to Amazing.JL for the pictures in the thread.
Also Xybot, friend of Minimates Central from ace online retailer stuckakid has posted up some interesting Battlestar Galactica rumours concerning the possible release of "a SINGLE PACK Cylon assortment ... both classic and neo designs." Should be interesting if this proves to be true, as many BSG fans have been champing at the bit to create Cylon armies and having a single pack means no unwanted extras.

The Toys R Us exclusive Street Fighter/Darkstalkers 4-packs are now appearing in stores according to Amazing.JL's post (with pictures) on the Minimate Multiverse forum. Looks like TRU is the place to get Minimate items at the moment, with the Ultimate Avengers 2 DVD Minimates, the Speed Racer sets, and now these.
Also Art Asylum have revealed another concept art picture from the upcoming Kellogg's line on their forum. Not a surprise to see it's Crackle, of the Rice Krispies elves.

Lots of cool MMC-related news to kick off with.
First, the winners of the Minimates Central Quick Custom contest have been announced. The panel of judges picked the top three so check out who won! Thanks to everyone who entered for the quality of the submissions, it was a fun contest to run. The eagle-eyed among you will notice that the menu bar now has a nifty RSS button which looks like this: ![]() Thanks to AdyCarter for creating the feed for me, it'll let people know when news and reviews are added so it should be a useful addition to this site. If you have an RSS news-reader, just click the button, if not, you can find out all about them here. Finally, Art Asylum have shown another piece of Kelloggs Minimate control art. Lots of news snippets today, stuff coming in thick and fast. Remember if you see a Minimates story that you think is newsworthy - let me know on the webmaster email on the front page (at the bottom).
First up, the Kelloggs Minimates control art picture saga has been resolved, with Art Asylum showing the Tony the Tiger pic on their forum here. In addition, a new "Ask DST" regarding Minimates has been posted up, with some interesting announcements surrounding the future of two DST/AA lines. Looks like the Sentinel and Galactus Minimates: Max statues will be the only ones to come out, and the future of Street Fighter 2 at retail is also shaky (a particularly hard blow to me as I absolutely love the line and have tried to promote it a lot here on MMC and elsewhere). In other news, Donna at Art Asylum has confirmed that the DC Minimates packaging will be "blistered, open window with a j-hook. Just like Streetfighter 2 pks." Should look nice. Finally, on the contests front, the Minimates Central Quick Custom contest is over. The panel of judges will be picking their top three very soon, so check out the final gallery of entries. But don't worry contest-fans, Minimate Multiverse is running a HUGE new contest announced today, where you could win two Minimates: Max statues! Yup, first prize is two lovely resin statues worth a lot of $$$$, with second and third prizes getting a Minimate: Max statue each! Way to piss all over my contest Ady! But hey it's all good! Head on over NOW to the Minimates: Max contest page and see how you could win Galactus and the Sentinel!

Thanks to Minimate Headquarters' own Jatta Pake for posting about this on the now up and running again Minimate Multiverse forums here.

The DC Minimates, which when announced were expected to hit August/September, have now been resolicited. Check out the article on Toy News International here. Thanks to Andimus Prime for for posting about this on the Minimate Multiverse boards here. Hopefully this is just a delay in production/manufacturing, all signs were that the first wave wasn't going to be out until later in the year anyway.
The Minimates Central Quick Custom Contest Page has just been updated with 4 new fantastic submitted quick customs, check out all the entries so far. There are still 5 days to get your custom entry in and be in with a chance to win a rare Japanese-packaged SF2 Minimate and an ECCC promo Minimate!

Quite a lot of news snippets recently. From the first Art Asylum Q&A session on their new-look message-boards, it has been announced that waves 12 and 13 of the Marvel Minimates will have new-look packaging, rumoured to be similar to the new 4-pack packaging that we saw prototype pics of a couple of weeks ago. AA also state that the Speed Racer Minimate sets of Minimate and car will be in TRU stores next month, so keep an eye out for those.
Art Asylum also have a new licence for Minimates, which is rumoured to be with Kelloggs for Cereal-Mates. More news on this as it comes in. Also, it seems as though there are actually 3 different Minimates for the new Ultimate Avengers 2 DVD. Toys R Us have either Captain America or Iron Man, and K-Mart have The Hulk. These will be the same as their original releases, including non-C3 feet, but may have some paint application differences as they are from different factories to those who produced the originals.

It appears that when the Utimate Avengers 2 DVD ships out to Toys R Us stores next month, it'll come with a free Minimate, either Captain America or Iron Man. Many thanks to rx78jj for posting this news on MMC's Minimate Multiverse forum here. It is unknown at this time whether this is a promotion exclusive to TRU, or whether other stores will be doing the same. It's also unknown whether the Minimates will be versions already released, but regardless this is a very smart marketing move to try and get Minimates directly into the hands of kids, and it should be applauded for trying to bring Minimates to a wider audience.

And it's SDCC time! That's right, one of the biggest geek conventions around has begun. Is there any Minimates new yet? A little, let's get to it.
First off, all-round good egg and friend of Minimates Central ThatBlokeTimbo has got some nice pics of the upcoming DC Minimates prototypes display, including a figure that they kept quiet - a baggied John Stewart Green Lantern giveaway! Check out Tim's pics here and join the queue of people who want one! Next up, the havyweight Action Figure sites have obviously geared up for SDCC coverage. Check out the pictures of the DC Minimates at Action-Figure.com and Toy News International, whilst the DC Comics website itself has a slideshow with some lovely pictures here. They look great!

Been a bit lax posting the news, in my defence I'll just say it's too hot here in the UK at the moment. As a country we are so not set up to cope with extremes of temperature. Anyway, on with the news:
The Marvel Minimates Max statues have hit the UK, well, Leeds anyway, according to AdyCarter in his recent post on the Minimates Multiverse here. AdyCarter has also posted up some prototype packaging shots of the upcoming mass-market Marvel Minimate 4-packs, like waves 12 and 13 based on current comic properties the New Avengers, the Astonishing X-Men, and the Marvel Knights. Check out the pictures on Minimate Multiverse here. Art Asylum have released more pictures of their upcoming Speed Racer line. Check out the pics at action-figure.com here. Fujis's Moviemate custom contest has reached the voting stage - check out the gallery of submissions here and make sure you vote for your favourites! San Diego Comic Con is just round the corner too so hopefully there will be a barrel-load of new Minimates pics and info soon!

Mr Excitable, erstwhile friend of Minimates Central who is currently working in Japan, has posted up some very interesting news on the Minimate Multiverse forums. In Japanese Toys R Us stores, AA/DST have just released blind-packed boxes containing single Street Fighter 2/Darkstalkers Minimates, similar to the way that Medicom sell their popular Kubricks block figures. Check out his post (with lots of large pics, beware dial-up users) here. I think this is a great way to get Minimates into new markets. Many thanks to Mr Excitable for posting this scoop!

With DST bizarrely not allowing photography of their booth at Toy Fair, concrete information regarding the wave 12/13 line-ups of the Marvel Minimates was a scarce commodity. However DST themselves have used the Toy Fair hoopla to announce the waves on their website!
The lineups are: Wave 12 NEW AVENGERS: Riot-Attack Spider-Man & Ronin Captain America & Nick Fury The Sentry & Luke Cage Chase figure for Wave 12: Imprisoned Sentry Wave 13 ASTONISHING X-MEN: Cyclops & Emma Frost Wolverine & Colossus Kitty Pryde & Beast Chase figure for Wave 13: Days of Future Past Wolverine Be sure to check out the DST website for some concept art of the Astonishing X-Men here, and the full announcement of the lineup in DST's news page here. As always I will include a link to the discussion about this news on the Art Asylum forum, found here, as it's a really great place to talk to your fellow Minimates collectors.

The Toy Fair has begun, and there's a whole heap of shots for people to check out, courtesy of the big toy sites like Figures.com, Toy News International, ASM and Action-Figure.com. Full credit to them for their comprehensive coverage year on year. Also I notice Jatta Pake did a great job rounding all the information up at Minimate Headquarters so be sure to check that out.
First off, the Marvel Minimates appear to have got a new shot in the arm with comic-based 4-packs, shots appeared on figures.com and were then pulled, but check out the discussion thread on the Art Asylum forum here as there might well be some pics on there. Diamond Select Toys pics haven't been shown yet, so presumably more will be revealed officially soon. The Marvel Minimate Max statues also got a look in, check out the gallery from Action-Figure. The same site also has some images of the resin playset, which isn't a proper Minimates release but is "compatible with mini-figures of all kinds". Take a look here. The other Minimate lines were also well represented: Street Fighter 2 has galleries from Action-Figure (with some nice series 2 shots) and Figures.com. Discussion on the Art Asylum board here. Lord of the Rings has a gallery from Figures.com. Discussion on the Art Asylum board here. Battlestar Galactica has galleries from Action-Figure and Figures.com. Discussion on the Art Asylum board here. The new Speed Racer cartoon (previously unmentioned on MMC 'cos I have no idea what it is) has galleries from Action-Figure and Figures.com. Bear in mind though that the licence isn't just for Minimates. Discussion on the Art Asylum board here. Finally, the AFX-exclusive Street Fighter 2 Ryu/Akuma Player 2 versions are out. Check out Kirby's great pics of the set on the Art Asylum forum here. Phew. Lots of info, lots of pics, lots of promise. Minimates forever!

Some concept pictures of both the classic and new Battlestar Galactica lineups have been shown on the Art Asylum forum. Check them out here and also check out the discussion thread here. I think this line looks great and could be a big winner on the back of a critically and commercially acclaimed show.
Also look for the winners of the Minimates: Most Wanted contest to be announced very soon, as well as which Minimates were in your top 5!

Action Figure Express have a picture up of their Street Fighter 2 exclusive set of Chun-Li and M Bison in the packaging. Check it out on their order page here. Whilst a lot of exclusive packaging isn't the same as the regular release packaging, it's good to get a look at the possibilities. I think it looks superb, very reminiscent of the early Marvel 2-packs. Many thanks to JattaPake and his Minimate Headquarters page for posting about this.

The UK Toy Fair is about to begin, and Action-figure.com has the scoop on some hot new Minimates items. Check out the first look at the Battlestar Galactica Minimates here, there's Apollo, a Cylon and a Viper spaceship from the classic Battlestar Galactica series, and Adama and a new Cylon, plus a Cylon Raider spaceship. Looking great so far, especially the new Cylon who would be very hard to capture as a Minimate.
Also check out Action-Figure.com's extensive shots of the Dark Tide boxset packaging and Minimates here.

It looks like Target are stocking their promised new Minimates assortments. As expected, there are no new figures, but at least one different set of 2 characters. The full list appears to be: - Mr. Fantastic & Torch *rerelease* - Sue Richards & Powerhouse Thing *rerelease* - Assault Punisher & Blade *new target pack/regular series rerelease* - Spider-Man & Gaijin Wolverine II *new* Thanks to Boyd, jcastick and others who posted their sightings on the Art Asylum forum, and for Lurch77's diligent work in identifying what the full wave was.
